(IN BRIEF) ANDRITZ, a global technology group, is relocating and upgrading a fiberline for Yueyang Forest & Paper to produce premium-quality fibers for its advanced paper machine. Originally supplied in 2011, the fiberline will now be moved to Yueyang city, Hunan province, China, to process mixed hardwood for high-quality printing and writing papers. The upgrade includes the addition of high-efficiency equipment, improving fiber quality, and reducing energy and chemical usage. The upgraded fiberline is expected to start operations in the second half of 2024. This project highlights ANDRITZ’s commitment to innovation and sustainability in paper manufacturing.

(PRESS RELEASE) GRAZ, 19-Oct-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — ANDRITZ (VIE: ANDR), an international technology group based in Austria, is set to relocate and upgrade a fiberline for Yueyang Forest & Paper, marking a significant step towards producing premium quality fibers for its state-of-the-art paper machine. The P-RC APMP (Pre-Conditioning Refiner Chemical Alkaline Peroxide Mechanical Pulp) line, originally supplied by ANDRITZ to the mill in Yuanjiang city, Hunan province in 2011, will now undergo a transformation in Yueyang city, Hunan province, where it will process mixed hardwood for the production of high-quality printing and writing papers.

This ambitious project entails the incorporation of new high-efficiency equipment and the refurbishment of existing machines, resulting in a substantial increase in the line’s minimum design capacity to 650 admt/d. Moreover, this upgrade will not only enhance fiber quality but also lead to significant savings in energy and chemicals consumption. The anticipated start-up for this upgraded fiberline is slated for the second half of 2024.

Mr. Xu Jianhong, Project Manager of Chemi-mechanical Pulp Lines’ Reform Department, Yueyang Forest & Paper, says: “ANDRITZ successfully completed a similar relocation and modernization project for us in 2018. Their extensive experience, proven technology for mechanical pulping, and highly professional service team were decisive factors why we chose ANDRITZ again as our partner for this project.”

To modernize the line, ANDRITZ will introduce a second-stage impregnation and a second bleaching system. The addition of a PrimeMSD Impressafiner will play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient pre-treatment and optimal chemical impregnation of wood chips, ultimately improving fiber quality while minimizing energy and chemical usage. Furthermore, ANDRITZ will undertake the reconstruction of two existing HC refiners, upgrade a sealing system, and refurbish three screw presses and two pressure screens previously used in a former DIP line. These measures are expected to significantly reduce investment costs while adhering to all technological requirements. Additionally, ANDRITZ will provide comprehensive supervision during installation, commissioning, start-up, and training phases.

Yueyang Forest & Paper Co. Ltd., formerly known as Yueyang Paper Plant, boasts a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1958. Over the years, it has evolved into a prominent large-scale papermaking enterprise in China, specializing in the production of fine paper, packaging paper, and industrial paper.

This collaborative effort between ANDRITZ and Yueyang Forest & Paper underscores the commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the production of premium quality fibers for the paper industry. It represents a significant milestone in the journey toward achieving excellence in paper manufacturing.
