ANDRITZ Strengthens Industry Position with 15th Pressurized Refining System for Insulation Boards

This system will enable the production of wood-based insulation products and marks ANDRITZ’s 15th insulation board production line equipped with this technology. The new production line, set to start operating in 2025, will process wood chips from various timber types to create insulation boards for the construction industry. (PRESS RELEASE) GRAZ, 12-Oct-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — ANDRITZ (VIE: ANDR), an international technology group based in Austria, is set to provide a pressurized refining system to Sonae Arauco Deutschland GmbH for their mill in Meppen, Germany. This system will enable the production of wood-based insulation products, further expanding ANDRITZ’s presence in the industry.

This project marks ANDRITZ’s 15th insulation board production line equipped with their advanced pressurized refining system, underscoring their robust standing within the sector.

Scheduled to commence operation in 2025, the new production line will process a blend of wood chips sourced from various timber types to manufacture insulation boards tailored for the construction industry.

At the core of this innovative line lies a highly efficient pressurized refining system, featuring a proven 44-1CP single disc refiner and a 14” plug screw feeder. This setup ensures superior fiber quality while significantly reducing both electrical and thermal energy consumption. The scope of supply also encompasses a C-feeder and a pressurized digester equipped with a counterflow and steam regulation system.

Sonae Arauco, boasting 23 industrial and commercial units across nine countries and approximately 2,600 employees, ranks among the world’s largest producers of wood-based panels.
