VINCI Railways’ SEA Fund Backs 26 Initiatives for Sustainable Regional Transformation

(IN BRIEF) The SEA Fund for the transition of territories, backed by LISEA and MESEA, subsidiaries of VINCI Railways, has chosen 26 projects to support the agro-ecological transformation of regions affected by the South Europe Atlantic high-speed line (SEA HSL). This initiative, with a budget of 3 million euros for 2021-2026, aims to promote biodiversity preservation, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance social and professional integration in France’s SEA HSL-affected areas. The selected projects will receive guidance and financial support totaling 800,000 euros, complementing the fund’s previous initiative of 500,000 euros for local and sustainable agriculture in 2021, bringing the total commitment to agro-ecological transition to 1.3 million euros.

(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 21-Dec-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — VINCI (EPA: DG), a global player in concessions, energy and construction businesses active in nearly 120 countries, announces that the SEA Fund for the transition of territories, established by LISEA, the South Europe Atlantic high-speed line (SEA HSL) concessionaire, and MESEA, the line’s operator-maintainer, both subsidiaries of VINCI Railways, has announced the selection of 26 projects in response to its second call for expressions of interest (AMI) launched in May 203. These projects collectively aim to accelerate the agro-ecological transition in regions traversed by the HSL.

In France, the SEA Fund for the transition of territories has allocated a budget of 3 million euros for the period 2021-2026. With a primary objective of supporting the regions impacted by the SEA high-speed line in their ecological and community-focused transition, the SEA Fund is dedicated to backing initiatives that contribute to biodiversity preservation, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and the promotion of social and professional integration.

To address the specific needs of local stakeholders, the fund has identified three key areas of intervention:

  1. Enhancement of environmental performance among farms.
  2. Promotion of local development and solidarity within the market garden and legume sectors for human consumption.
  3. Support for research and experimentation to foster the relocation of the plant protein sector.

Out of 36 projects submitted, the Fonds SEA Board of Directors, composed of farmers, local authorities, producer groups, research institutions, associations, cooperatives, and chambers of agriculture, has selected 26 for guidance and financial support amounting to a total of 800,000 euros. This second round of selection complements the initial call for projects focused on local and sustainable agriculture, launched in 2021 with a funding allocation of 500,000 euros. In total, the SEA fund has committed 1.3 million euros to promote the agro-ecological transition.
