Lindner Group’s Sustainable Raised Floors Shape Škoda Auto’s New Headquarters

(IN BRIEF) In Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic, Škoda Auto is constructing its new Laurin & Klement Campus, set to be the company’s headquarters. The campus, covering 44,000 square meters, will accommodate 1,700 employees and features modern office spaces, a company restaurant, conference facilities, and an underground car park. It aligns with sustainability goals, aiming for DGNB Gold certification with features like intelligent light sensors, LED technology, biomass usage, and photovoltaic panels for sustainable energy. Ventilation systems and rainwater collection further enhance energy efficiency. The Lindner Group is contributing to the project with its sustainable Lindner raised floors, including LIGNA and NORTEC FLOOR systems, aligning with the campus’s eco-conscious design. The installation is expected to be completed by spring 2024, and Lindner will provide corridor ceilings for the building’s interior and exterior, contributing to the overall sustainability and aesthetics of Škoda Auto’s headquarters.

(PRESS RELEASE) ARNSTORF, 25-Oct-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — The so-called Laurin & Klement Campus is being built – the new headquarters of the car manufacturer Škoda Auto. In future, 1,700 employees will work together here under optimum conditions. The Lindner Group is involved in the project with various raised floors.

Commitment to the Existing Site

Since the ground-breaking ceremony in May 2022, construction work in the Czech city of Mladá Boleslav has been in full swing: The new 44,000 m2 Laurin & Klement Campus of car manufacturer Škoda Auto is being built in the immediate vicinity of the company’s old headquarters. In addition to a company restaurant for around 400 employees, a modern conference area and an underground car park, the campus also includes spacious office areas. The latter are based on modern new work concepts, offering individual solutions for different requirements and thus creating an optimal working environment for the employees on site. The Czech carmaker’s future headquarters will primarily generate operational savings by consolidating previously rented office space with the company’s eleven offices in Mladá Boleslav.

Sustainability at the Highest Level

The Czech car manufacturer has set itself sustainability targets for the construction of its office building. The building complex is aiming for DGNB Gold certification: Intelligent light sensors and state-of-the-art LED technology significantly reduce the building’s electricity consumption, a switch to biomass by 2025 and 330 photovoltaic panels on the roof provide sustainably generated energy. In addition, ventilation systems pre-cool the offices at night and enable heat recovery with a utilisation rate of 80 %. This not only ensures a pleasant working environment, but is also highly energy efficient. A central rainwater collection and filtration system also provides irrigation for the landscaped areas.

Lindner Floors at Škoda Auto Headquarters

The Lindner Group manufactured, supplied and installed various Lindner raised floors for the project. Today, the LIGNA and NORTEC FLOOR systems provide a solid foundation for Škoda Auto’s working environments. Both floors continue the sustainability concept of the Laurin & Klement campus – the LIGNA raised floor through the use of low-emission wood materials, the NORTEC floor system thanks to Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver. The NORTEC calcium sulphate floor is also non-combustible and highly effective acoustically, making it an ideal flooring system for offices. The installation of the flooring systems is already in full swing and is scheduled for completion in spring 2024. In addition, a new order for METAL CEILINGS in the interior and exterior of the head office is about to begin: Lindner LMD E 213 WL corridor ceilings will soon connect the four parts of the building. As some of the ‘bridges’ are going to be built in an open construction method, special attention must be paid to wind loads during construction. Lindner’s products and services will continue to shape the image of the headquarters.
