(IN BRIEF) DHL Group and SOS Children’s Villages Ukraine have entered into a partnership to support young people facing socio-economic challenges due to poverty, conflict, or displacement. The GoTeach program, initiated by DHL, aims to empower youth by providing early exposure to professional working environments and essential job-related skills. The partnership includes mentoring programs and guided tours of DHL logistics facilities. It targets young individuals aged 15 to 25 during their transition from school to the workforce, with a focus on improving their employability and self-leadership skills, particularly relevant amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. SOS Children’s Villages Ukraine already offers various services to support youth and their independence.

(PRESS RELEASE) BONN/ KYIV, 4-Oct-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Deutsche Post DHL Group (ETR: DPW), a German multinational package delivery and supply chain management company, and SOS Children’s Villages Ukraine have officially entered into a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing career prospects for young individuals facing socio-economic challenges due to poverty, conflict, loss of family, or displacement. The partnership, formalized through the signing of the GoTeach framework agreement, reinforces the commitment of Vadim Sidoruk, Country Head of DHL Express Ukraine, and Serhii Lukashov, National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Ukraine, to create opportunities and instill hope in the lives of war-affected youth.

While DHL Group has been actively involved in initiatives benefiting Ukrainian youth in the past, this official partnership with SOS Children’s Villages Ukraine paves the way for expanded programs. Vadim Sidoruk stated, “We have already implemented some activities for and with Ukrainian young people in the past. Now, we are happy that the partnership with SOS Children’s Villages Ukraine is official and that we can create further offers to be able to open a hope and future perspectives for the young, war-torn people. We have no planning certainty due to the war and have to take high security precautions, but nonetheless we try to implement as many activities as possible. Education leads to more stability and more prosperity in the long run. We cannot change the past, but we can bring something to the present and the future.”

DHL Group’s GoTeach program focuses on providing young people with early exposure to professional working environments and fundamental skills such as resume writing and job application training. Future plans include mentoring programs and guided tours of DHL logistics facilities across the country, with DHL Group employees contributing their expertise, time, and experiences to empower the younger generation.

Serhii Lukashov, National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Ukraine, emphasized the importance of the partnership in addressing the employability challenges faced by young Ukrainians. “This partnership will promote the employability of young people and contribute to sustainability in Ukraine. It will provide opportunities for integration into the world of work and help young people improve their self-leadership skills. This is particularly important now, during the war in Ukraine, as there are not enough jobs and young people do not have sufficient skills and experience to find work. The GoTeach partnership between SOS Children’s Villages Ukraine and DHL Ukraine is helping to close this gap.”

The primary goal of this partnership is to bolster the employability of young individuals aged 15 to 25 during their transition from school to the workforce. DHL Group has maintained a GoTeach partnership with SOS Children’s Villages International since 2011. By working closely with local youth and families, the organizations aim to address the challenges specific to this age group, including limited professional experience, social immaturity, and job market tensions, ultimately reducing the risk of social exclusion.

SOS Children’s Villages Ukraine currently offers a range of services, including an SOS Village in Brovary, six social centers, psychosocial support programs, assistance for children with injuries, foster care initiatives, and programs promoting independence.
