Skanska Secures $106M Contract to Construct North Carolina State University’s State-of-the-Art Integrative Sciences Building

(IN BRIEF) Skanska, a leading construction company, has announced a new contract agreement with North Carolina State University for the construction of a cutting-edge integrative sciences building in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. This project, valued at USD 106 million (approximately SEK 1.1 billion), will be added to Skanska’s US order bookings in the fourth quarter of 2023. The 15,300 square-meter (165,000-SF) facility is designed to accommodate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) teaching and research, featuring classrooms, teaching labs, research core facilities, collaboration spaces, a cafe, and office areas. The building’s design prioritizes creativity, collaboration, and the celebration of North Carolina State University’s scientific achievements. Emphasizing flexibility and interdisciplinarity, the project will focus on chemistry, biochemistry, and biotechnology. Additionally, the building is planned to achieve LEED Gold certification. Construction commenced in September 2023, with completion scheduled for September 2026.
