Jyrki Vainionpää Joins Ahlstrom’s Board of Directors and Assumes CEO Role

(IN BRIEF) Jyrki Vainionpää has been appointed as a member of Ahlstrom’s Board of Directors, effective December 11, 2023. He also takes on the role of President and CEO of A. Ahlström Corporation as of the same date. Lasse Heinonen, the former President and CEO of A. Ahlström Corporation, who left his position on December 8, also steps down from Ahlstrom’s Board of Directors. Jyrki Vainionpää, an independent member of the company, has experience in various sectors, including transport, energy solutions, and finance, making him a valuable addition to Ahlstrom’s growth transformation journey. Ivano Sessa, Chairman of the Board, welcomed Jyrki and expressed gratitude to Lasse for his five years of dedicated service on Ahlstrom’s Board.

(PRESS RELEASE) HELSINKI, 12-Dec-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Jyrki Vainionpää has been appointed as a member of Ahlstrom’s Board of Directors as of December 11, 2023. Jyrki, who is independent of the company and non-independent of its significant shareholders, also assumes the role of President and CEO of A. Ahlström Corporation as of December 11. Lasse Heinonen, who left the position as President and CEO of A. Ahlström Corporation, on December 8, leaves his position as a member of Ahlstrom’s Board of Directors.

Jyrki is also a board member in Terrafame, a company that supplies responsibly produced chemicals to the global battery industry. He was most recently CEO of Finnish transport company Koiviston Auto, which is a portfolio company of CapMan, a Nordic private asset management and investment company. He has previously been CEO of Adven, a company producing industrial energy solutions, and deputy CEO, COO, and CFO of Vapo, a developer and supplier of bioenergy. He has also worked at Nokia, Dresdner Kleinwort, and McKinsey, and he has a broad experience of strategy and M&A.

Jyrki is a Finnish citizen and has a Master of Science degree in Economics, and he is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
