This offering complements existing solutions for maritime biofuels and SAF in Sea and Air Logistics. It supports the company’s science-based emissions reduction goals. Initially available in Europe, expansion to other regions is planned for 2024, and the integration of electric vehicles is in progress.

(PRESS RELEASE) SCHINDELLEGI, 4-Oct-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — 16-May-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Kuehne+Nagel (SWX: KNIN), one of the world’s leading logistics companies, has unveiled a Book & Claim insetting solution for road logistics customers who purchase Hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) to lower transport emissions. This offering supplements their existing solutions in Sea and Air Logistics, encompassing maritime biofuels and SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel), respectively. The comprehensive Book & Claim solution aligns with Kuehne+Nagel’s science-based emissions reduction goals, furthering the sustainability of the logistics sector.

In developing the Book & Claim option for HVO, Kuehne+Nagel collaborated with external partners to rigorously assess and validate the concept’s scientific and methodological reliability. Their prior experience in Sea and Air Logistics formed a solid foundation for this endeavor.

Initially, the Book & Claim for HVO will be accessible to European customers, with plans to extend its availability beyond Europe in 2024. Additionally, the company is actively working on incorporating electric vehicles into this eco-friendly solution.

“Extending our offer of low-emission solutions for our customers is a key focus of our Roadmap 2026’s Living ESG cornerstone. Customers purchasing HVO can now reduce carbon emissions in their value chains. This will increase the demand and therewith the supply of low-emission technologies, to accelerate the decarbonisation of road logistics,” says Hansjörg Rodi, Board Member for Road Logistics at Kuehne+Nagel.

“To decarbonise road logistics, we see HVO only as a bridging solution with battery-electric vehicles as our focus in the future. We expect this to be ready by the end of 2023,” Rodi concludes.
