(PRESS RELEASE) JENA, 19-Jun-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — ZEISS Medical Technology has announced a strategic collaboration with Envision Health Technologies to advance virtual reality-based visual function testing for glaucoma care.

The collaboration brings together ZEISS’ long-standing expertise in perimetry and visual field testing with Envision Health Technologies’ software-driven approach to digital eye health. The companies aim to support the development of patient-accessible, clinically grounded technologies that can help modernise glaucoma diagnostics and care workflows.

Envision Health Technologies was founded by glaucoma surgeon Dr Lama A Al-Aswad and focuses on next-generation digital solutions for vision-threatening diseases. Through the partnership, ZEISS and Envision will explore the potential of gamified virtual reality technology to make visual function testing more flexible, accessible and patient-centred, while maintaining a strong scientific and clinical foundation.

ZEISS said the collaboration comes at a time of growing demand for broader access to glaucoma screening and more adaptable workflow solutions. Healthcare providers are increasingly looking at portable and software-based approaches that can support visual function testing across different care settings.

Anuj Kalra, Head of Chronic Disease Management at ZEISS Medical Technology, said glaucoma care is evolving and clinicians need solutions that improve accessibility, flexibility and patient experience without reducing clinical confidence. He said the partnership with Envision Health Technologies reflects ZEISS’ commitment to practical, clinician-driven innovation that can help expand access to visual function testing.

Dr Lama A Al-Aswad, Founder and CEO of Envision Health Technologies, said the future of visual function testing should be more accessible, flexible and patient-centred while remaining grounded in clinical rigour. She said working with ZEISS creates an opportunity to combine software innovation with decades of trusted leadership in perimetry.

The collaboration is intended to help shape the future direction of virtual reality-based perimetry and visual function testing. By combining ZEISS’ long-term innovation strategy in visual field testing with Envision’s expertise in virtual reality and software-driven diagnostics, the companies aim to support more practical solutions for real-world glaucoma care.

ZEISS noted that product availability, regulatory approval, labelling and instructions can vary by market, and product specifications may change as technologies continue to develop.
