Green Electricity Deal: Iberdrola and TMD Friction Services Join Forces

Ignacio Galán, Executive Chairman of Iberdrola, at the offshore wind farm in Saint-Brieuc.

(IN BRIEF) Iberdrola and TMD Friction Services have signed a 15-year contract for the supply of green electricity. Iberdrola will provide approximately 50 GWh of clean energy per year to cover over 50% of TMD’s electricity demand in Germany starting in 2027. The power will come from the Windanker offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea, currently in the planning stage. Windanker will feature 21 offshore wind turbines with a total capacity of 300 MW, expected to be connected to the grid by 2026. This marks Iberdrola’s third offshore wind project in the German Baltic Sea, and together with previous projects, it forms the Baltic Hub, with a total capacity of over 1.1 GW by 2026, representing an investment of approximately €3.7 billion. Iberdrola is a major player in offshore and onshore wind, photovoltaic projects, and offers green energy solutions to industrial and commercial customers, including power supply, portfolio management, long-term PPAs, and integrated solutions like battery storage and green hydrogen production.
