(PRESS RELEASE) LINZ, 19-Jun-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — voestalpine is highlighting the role of Lower Austria as both a strong regional industrial base and a platform for international growth, pointing to the global use of technologies developed and produced at its sites in the region.

The globally active steel and technology group employs around 2,100 people in Lower Austria, where the headquarters of its Metal Forming Division is located in Krems. The division develops and manufactures high-quality steel profiles, tubes, precision strip steel, road restraint systems, racking systems and state-of-the-art turnout technologies that are supplied to customers worldwide.

voestalpine’s commitment to this year’s Grafenegg Festival underlines the Group’s connection to Lower Austria and its wider role as an industrial employer, technology developer and international supplier. The company said the region is not only an important production and competence centre, but also a starting point for global value creation.

Herbert Eibensteiner, CEO of voestalpine AG, said the Group manufactures high-quality steel tubes and sections, innovative road restraint systems, racking systems, precision strip steel and modern turnouts in Lower Austria for customers around the world. He said voestalpine’s involvement in Grafenegg reflects an approach that combines regional responsibility with an international perspective, positioning Lower Austria as a strong industrial location and a base for technological progress.

The company pointed in particular to strong development in the high-bay warehouse systems segment. voestalpine is currently implementing a record number of projects simultaneously across seven countries and four different time zones.

One recent flagship project was completed in Lower Austria for NÖM AG. The high-bay warehouse, which stands more than 30 metres tall, will be cooled to a constant 4°C once operational to support the requirements of fresh-food logistics.

Carola Richter, Member of the Management Board of voestalpine AG and Head of the Metal Forming Division, said the NÖM AG project combines a local partnership with Austrian-made innovation and reflects both companies’ commitment to “made in Austria”. She added that voestalpine’s sophisticated warehouse systems are also in demand internationally and that the Group is among the leading providers in this segment.

voestalpine has also recently completed a specialised warehouse project in the Portuguese mountains, where installation work was particularly demanding due to the environmental conditions. In Türkiye, the Group secured the largest order for high-bay warehousing systems in its history, with a contract worth around EUR 41 million for a logistics service provider. The project involves the construction of a modern 40-metre-tall logistics hub for sporting goods in Istanbul, scheduled for completion by April 2027.

The Group said high-bay warehouses developed in Krems have now been realised on five continents, demonstrating how expertise from Lower Austria is being applied in international markets.

voestalpine is also supporting the 20th Grafenegg Festival as one of its main sponsors for the first time. The festival is one of Lower Austria’s major summer cultural events, and voestalpine has created a dedicated format called the voestalpine Symphosium, combining economic dialogue with musical elements.

The format, whose name blends “symposium” and “symphony”, is being held under the tagline “Welt außer Takt. Zukunft neu denken”, meaning “World out of sync. Rethinking the future”. Experts including China specialist Jörg Wuttke and philosopher Lisz Hirn are discussing the challenges and opportunities facing a world in transformation.

voestalpine said the themes addressed through the Symphosium also reflect the environment in which the Group operates. As an international steel and technology company, voestalpine is responding to uncertainty through its local-for-local strategy, which combines global reach with strong regional production and market presence.

The Metal Forming Division serves as voestalpine’s centre of competence for refined sections, tubes, precision strip steel products, formed parts, system components and smart warehousing solutions. Its combination of materials expertise, processing know-how and global presence supports customers in sectors including automotive, storage technology, road safety, renewable energy, construction and mechanical engineering.

The division employs around 10,700 people and aims to achieve climate-neutral manufacturing by 2035. In the 2025/26 business year, the Metal Forming Division generated revenue of EUR 3 billion and EBITDA of EUR 218 million.

Through its Lower Austrian operations, international warehouse projects and cultural engagement at Grafenegg, voestalpine is presenting a model that links regional industrial responsibility with global technology deployment and long-term value creation.
