(PRESS RELEASE) SCHINDELLEGI, 28-Dec-2022 — /EuropaWire/ — Kuehne+Nagel (SWX: KNIN), one of the world’s leading logistics companies, has announced that Shimano, a Japanese multinational company that sells cycling and fishing equipment, has partnered with Kuehne+Nagel to open a 20,000 sqm distribution center in Belgium to support their growing B2B e-commerce business in Europe, with the goal of meeting the increasing demand for sustainable mobility through the sale of bicycles and e-bikes. The distribution center will be part of Kuehne+Nagel’s existing e-fulfillment hub in Tessenderlo, Belgium and will use a highly automated and flexible omnichannel solution to handle the increasing volume.

The operations go live in the course of 2023 and will create 50 new jobs. Supported by an automated picking technology, the highly flexible solution aims at serving different sales channels. On top, it includes advanced value-added services for end-customers, such as battery transportation management (classified as dangerous goods) for e-bikes.
