Bosch Introduces Digital Keys for eBike Theft Protection with Kiox Displays

(IN BRIEF) Bosch eBike Systems is enhancing its digital theft protection for eBikes with a new update to the eBike Flow app. The update enables eBikers to use the Kiox 300 and Kiox 500 displays as keys to unlock their eBikes, in addition to smartphones. The eBike Lock theft protection feature is at the core of this update, disabling motor support when the eBike is switched off. Users can choose between smartphone, display, or both as their preferred unlocking key. The Kiox displays offer greater flexibility, allowing multiple users to define digital keys. Additionally, the eBike Flow app prevents automatic unlocking when the eBike is in Bluetooth range of the smartphone, enhancing security. The update also empowers riders to customize Kiox display content for their ride preferences. Riders can arrange display screens and select up to 30 information points, such as cadence and speed, to monitor their eBiking experience. The update can be accessed via the eBike Flow app.

(PRESS RELEASE) STUTTGART/REUTLINGEN, 9-Aug-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Exploring trail adventures on an eMTB, embarking on eTrekking journeys, or leisurely navigating city streets on an eUrban bike, eBiking offers both enjoyment and fitness. In an effort to ensure a carefree experience when parking eBikes, Bosch eBike Systems is amplifying their digital theft protection capabilities within the smart system. With the latest update to the eBike Flow app, riders can utilize the Kiox 300 and Kiox 500 displays as alternative keys to unlock their eBikes, in addition to their smartphones. Moreover, a new feature enables users to deactivate automatic unlocking for added security.

Enhanced Key Options Elevate Theft Protection
All functionalities are built upon the foundation of the eBike Lock theft protection, provided free of charge. Upon installation, this feature disengages motor support when the eBike is turned off. Complementing the mechanical bike lock, eBike Lock ensures an added layer of security. With the update, this advantage extends to Kiox 300 and Kiox 500 displays. Following the activation of the eBike and connection of the corresponding display, riders can easily specify their preferred key in the eBike Flow app settings – be it the smartphone, display, or both. Engaging and disengaging the supplementary theft protection is as simple as removing or inserting the display into the mount.

Increased Flexibility with Kiox 300 and Kiox 500 Keys
Incorporating Kiox 300 and Kiox 500 displays as keys offers riders heightened flexibility and convenience. In scenarios such as shared eBikes among family or friends, multiple digital keys can be designated and removed as needed. The security of eBike Lock is no longer restricted to a single smartphone. Another novel feature of the eBike Flow app prevents automatic unlocking when the eBike comes within Bluetooth range of the smartphone. Users can easily disable the “Automatic unlock” function in the app, activating motor support by holding down the “Hold to unlock” button on the Home Screen.

Customizable Displays for Optimal Ride Monitoring
The integration with eBike Lock further enriches the capabilities of the Kiox 300 and Kiox 500 displays within the smart system. Users can now personalize the content and sequence of display screens, allocating up to three tiles per screen and a maximum of 13 individual screens. With the ability to showcase up to 30 distinct information points, riders can tailor the display to their preferences – displaying elements like cadence, average and maximum speed for mountain biking enthusiasts, or distance, gradient, and range for touring bikers.

Update Availability and Access
The update can be conveniently downloaded through the eBike Flow app, accessible free of charge from relevant app stores.
