University of Exeter Achieves Global Top 50 Rankings for International Outlook and Research Quality

(IN BRIEF) The University of Exeter has secured impressive rankings in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. It ranks 38th worldwide for International Outlook and 40th for Research Quality, out of over 1900 universities evaluated globally. These rankings contribute to Exeter’s overall placement of 177th worldwide and 23rd in the UK. This recognition follows Exeter’s recent achievements, including being named runner-up in the University of the Year award and rising to 11th nationally in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024. The university was also highly ranked in the QS World Universities Rankings: Europe and was shortlisted for several categories in the Times Higher Education Awards 2023 for its world-leading research, teaching, and commitment to sustainability and community impact.

(PRESS RELEASE) EXETER, 28-Sep-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — The University of Exeter has been placed in the global top 50 for two key areas of an influential league table.

Exeter has been ranked 38th worldwide for International Outlook, placing 38th,  and 40th for Research Quality in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, released today (Wednesday, 27 September 2023).

The rankings, first published in 2004, are based on 18 indicators grouped into five key areas – teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook. More than 1900 universities are assessed as part of the rankings.

Exeter has been placed 177th in the world in the overall rankings, and 23rd in the UK.

The THE World University Rankings are the latest notable success for Exeter.

Earlier this month, the University was named runner-up in the prestigious University of the Year award for the second successive year in the influential The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024. Exeter also saw a rise in the overall rankings, moving up two places to 11th nationally.

The University was also ranked =47th in Europe and 21st nationally in the inaugural QS World Universities Rankings: Europe league table.

Exeter was also shortlisted for the prestigious University of the Year award in the Times Higher Education Awards 2023. The University was nominated for its world-leading research, teaching and innovation, as well as its commitment to creating a greener, fairer and heathier future for all.

Exeter was also shortlisted for both the Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Leadership, and Outstanding Contribution to the Local Community categories in the awards.
