University of Exeter Ranks 30th Globally in QS Sustainability Rankings 2024, Acknowledging Commitment to ESG Challenges

(IN BRIEF) The University of Exeter has achieved a global ranking of 30th in the QS Sustainability Ranking 2024, which evaluates universities’ efforts to address Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) challenges. Exeter also secured 15th place in Europe and 10th place in the UK. The rankings cover three categories: Environmental Impact, Social Impact, and Governance. Exeter received high marks for Health and Wellbeing, ranking 2nd globally in that category. The university’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its Strategy 2030, which aims to create a sustainable, healthy, and socially just future.

(PRESS RELEASE) EXETER, 6-Dec-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — The University of Exeter has risen into the global top 30 in an influential environmental and social impact ranking.

Exeter is ranked 30th overall in the QS Sustainability Ranking 2024, which recognises the steps universities worldwide are taking to tackle the greatest Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) challenges. The University was also placed 15th= in Europe, and 10th= in the UK.

The rankings, which have been announced today (December 5th 2023), are calculated using publicly available information. Information has also been previously submitted by universities to QS in relation to sustainability goals.

The rankings cover three categories – Environmental Impact, Social Impact, and Governance.

Exeter’s highest individual ranking was 2nd globally for Health and Wellbeing, which forms part of the Social Impact lens – in recognition for its action and research into health and wellbeing.

The University also secured joint 14th place in Knowledge Exchange, joint 15th for Environmental Research, and joint 29th for its Equality work.

The University declared a Climate Emergency in 2019 and has a dedicated team to address the agenda, a range of policies in place and a programmed plan of action to deliver environmental net gain and carbon net zero.
