Notably, Terna’s efforts in reporting on “Scope 3” emissions and promoting the circular economy have been commended, aligning with its goal of becoming a leader in sustainability. This recognition adds to Terna’s previous accolades, showcasing its dedication to combatting climate change and its consistent performance in ESG ratings and indices globally.

(PRESS RELEASE) ROME, 11-Mar-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Terna has been included on the list of leading international companies getting their suppliers involved in the fight against climate change, thanks to the information gathered through the Climate Change survey of CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project). CDP is a global non-profit organisation specialising in environmental reporting and assessing the climate performances and strategies adopted by companies. The group led by Giuseppina Di Foggia has in fact achieved an ‘A’ rating, the maximum possible score (on a scale from ‘D-’ to ‘A’), improving on last year’s ‘A-’.

The score assigned to Terna places the company in the “Leadership” category, above the average for the sector (“B-”), the European average (“B-”) and the global average (“C”).

In particular, CDP’s assessment of supplier engagement has rewarded Terna’s efforts for the quality of reporting on “Scope 3” emissions, those which come from the value chain, and has commended the Group’s commitment to reducing such emissions, as certified by the Science-based Target Initiative in 2023. The accolade is also in line with the company’s work to promote the circular economy, which took concrete form in the recent launch of the Terna Roadmap, aimed at making the company a leader in this field.

This latest recognition comes in addition to the recent CDP assessment which placed Terna in the leadership category among companies committed to fighting climate change. Among the company’s strengths, its governance, level of management and disclosure of climate-altering emissions were highlighted, as well as the application of challenging targets to reduce its carbon footprint and the integration of the strategy to combat climate change into the company’s business model.

Terna’s leadership in the field of sustainability, with its recognition as a top performer by the leading ESG ratings agencies, is demonstrated at the global level by the Group’s inclusion in the main ESG indices and leading classifications, including: the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, STOXX Global ESG Leaders, FTSE4Good, Euronext Vigeo Eiris, Bloomberg Gender Equality Index, S&P Global 1200 ESG, MIB ESG, ECPI and recent “LargeMidCap SDG Index”, launched in January 2024 by S&P Global, which measures companies’ alignment with the 17 UN sustainable development goals.
