EQT Welcomes Sir Alok Sharma as Senior Advisor on Geopolitical and Economic Trends

Sir Alok, former President of the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) and Secretary of State for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy in the UK, brings valuable insights to EQT’s global network of Industrial Advisors. In his part-time role, he will advise on sustainability-related matters, dealmaking, and portfolio value creation, aligning with EQT’s thematic investment approach focusing on energy transition, decarbonization, and healthcare access.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 11-Mar-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — EQT’s global network of Industrial Advisors includes more than 600 members from across nearly 50 nationalities who support EQT hands-on in investment strategy and serve on the boards of the EQT funds’ portfolio companies. In his new part-time role, Sir Alok will advise on a range of geopolitical topics and economic trends, drawing on his extensive experience in sustainability while supporting dealmaking and portfolio value creation.

Sir Alok was appointed President Designate of COP26 in 2020, alongside his role as Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. He took on the COP26 role full-time in 2021 and served as COP President until 2022. Under Sir Alok’s leadership, almost 200 nations signed the historic Glasgow Climate Pact, aiming to turn the 2020s into a decade of climate action through strengthened efforts to build climate resilience, curb greenhouse gas emissions, and provide the necessary finance for both. As a testament to his services to tackling climate change, Alok was knighted in 2023.
