Sempra Infrastructure Partners with Vestas for Expansion of Cimarron Wind Farm in Mexico

(IN BRIEF) Sempra Infrastructure, a subsidiary of Sempra, has awarded Vestas a 319 MW order for the expansion of the Cimarron wind farm in Tecate, Mexico. As part of the Energia Sierra Juarez Wind Complex, this phase will add 64 turbines to the existing infrastructure, bringing the total installed capacity to 582 MW. Vestas will supply and install a combination of V163-4.5 MW and V162-6.2 MW turbines, along with a 10-year service agreement to optimize energy production and ensure long-term operational reliability. The project underscores Sempra’s commitment to renewable energy development in Mexico, while Vestas solidifies its position in the region’s wind energy market. Turbine delivery is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024, with commissioning expected by the fourth quarter of 2025.

(PRESS RELEASE) HAMBURG, 16-Mar-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Sempra Infrastructure, a subsidiary of Sempra, has placed a 319 MW order for the Cimarron wind farm in Tecate, in the state of Baja California, Mexico. This is the third phase of the Energia Sierra Juarez Wind Complex that will have a total installed capacity of 582 MW.

The order includes supply and installation of 46 V163-4.5 MW turbines and 18 V162-6.2 MW turbines. Upon completion, Vestas will also deliver a 10-year service agreement (AOM 5000) that will optimise energy production while providing long-term business case certainty for the wind farm operations.
