Sadia Ricke joins Standard Chartered as Group Chief Risk Officer

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 23-Sep-2022 — /EuropaWire/ — Standard Chartered (LON: STAN), a leading international banking group, has announced that Sadia Ricke, coming from Société Générale, will be the Group’s new Chief Risk Officer based in London, Her appointment is subject to regulatory approval and will be in effect as of 1 February 2023.

In her new role, Sadia will report directly to Group Chief Executive Bill Winters and become a member of the Group’s Management Team.

Sadia joins from Société Générale, where she started in 1994. She held various roles in credit and structured finance, before moving to Hong Kong as Head of Global Finance for Asia Pacific in 2015. She was appointed Group Country Head and Head of Coverage and Investment Banking for the UK in 2017. In 2019, Sadia became Deputy Chief Risk Officer and then latterly, Group Chief Risk Officer in January 2021.

Sadia replaces Mark Smith, who retires from the Group on 31 December 2022 after a forty-year career in financial services, the last seven of which were spent with Standard Chartered.

Biography

Sadia Ricke began her career at Société Générale in 1994 in the Financial Institutions Credit department. She has more than 13 years of structured finance experience in the Natural Resources and Energy Finance division where she was Co-Deputy Head, a position she held until 2010. She was Head of Credit Risk for SG CIB in Paris before moving to Hong Kong to take on the role of Head of Global Finance for Asia Pacific in January 2015.

Sadia was appointed Group Country Head for the United Kingdom and Head of Coverage and Investment Banking in the United Kingdom in January 2017. She was appointed Deputy Chief Risk Officer for the Group in September 2019 and then Group Chief Risk Officer in January 2021.

Sadia graduated from HEC Paris (Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales).
