(IN BRIEF) In the first quarter of 2023, Volkswagen Group delivered 141,000 electric vehicles (BEVs), an increase of 42% compared to the same period in 2022. Europe was the main contributor to this growth, with a 68% increase in deliveries. The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand delivered 70,000 BEVs, followed by Audi with 34,600 vehicles, ŠKODA with 12,400 vehicles, SEAT/CUPRA with 9,200 vehicles, Porsche with 9,200 vehicles, and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles with 5,500 vehicles. The United States saw a 100% increase in BEV deliveries, while China was the second-largest market for BEVs with 21,500 vehicles delivered.
(PRESS RELEASE) WOLFSBURG, 21-Apr-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Volkswagen Group (ETR: VOW3), one of the world’s leading manufacturers of automobiles and commercial vehicles, has announced a successful transition to electric mobility in the first quarter of 2023, with a 42% increase in deliveries of all-electric vehicles (BEVs) compared to the prior-year period. By the end of March 2023, the Group delivered 141,000 BEVs, compared with 99,200 in the first quarter of 2022.
BEVs accounted for 6.9% of the Group’s total deliveries in the first quarter of 2023, up from 5.2% in the same period in 2022. Europe drove this growth, with an increase of 68% to 98,300 vehicles, and the BEV order backlog in Western Europe remains high at over 260,000 vehicles.
Around 70% of the Group’s BEV deliveries went to its home region of Europe. China was the second-largest market for BEVs, with 21,500 vehicles delivered, while the United States saw a 100% increase in BEV deliveries compared to the prior-year period, with 15,700 vehicles delivered.
