(PRESS RELEASE) ROME, 4-Dec-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Italian power grid operator Terna, led by Giuseppina Di Foggia, ranked first in the 2023-2024 edition of “Webranking Europe 500”, the prime continental ranking that for twenty-seven years has assessed the quality and transparency of digital communication in the Europe’s 500 largest listed companies based on stakeholder expectations. This is a record-breaking result in this renowned international ranking: no company has ever held top place for four consecutive years before now.

“We’re particularly proud to take first place in the Webranking Europe 500 because it demonstrates the great teamwork and constant commitment to complete, transparent digital communication about Terna’s leading role in energy transition and the work done by our people every day in pursuit of sustainable development, across all ESG areas,” said Giuseppina Di Foggia, CEO and General Manager of Terna.

With a score of 94.7 out of 100, more than double the European company average of 47 points, Terna was awarded for excellence in the accessibility and quality of corporate information on its website and main social platforms.

Since 1997, Webranking has been monitoring corporate and financial communication on the digital channels of the major European listed companies, measuring the gap between stakeholders’ expectations and company responses. The ranking is edited by leading Swedish market research company Comprend, in conjunction with Lundquist. Their results confirm Terna as the top European company for effective and transparent digital communication with regards to Sustainability, Governance, and Investor Relations areas. Comprend’s analysts pointed out that “Terna’s position as the best-performing European company for four consecutive years indicates a sustained commitment to excellence in corporate communication and transparency. The company is the clear Europe-wide winner not only in its approach to sustainability, but also in communication to investors, the area where European companies score lowest overall. The company also amply describes its governance policy and explains in detail the structure and functions of the Board of Directors”.

In 2023, Terna, in its role as director of energy transition, strengthened its presence on digital, web and social channels: the company currently features on all the leading social media channels including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and on TikTok, as well as on the Spotify and Speaker audio platforms.

Terna’s role and mission, combined with its desire to give stakeholders an accurate picture of electricity system developments, are at the basis of its latest data sharing projects: “Ecologio” is the tool that allows citizens to easily identify the times when it is preferable to use power responsibly; “Econnextion” is the digital dashboard used by Terna to share information on the regional and local distribution on connection requests from renewable plants, divided by source. New digital platforms have also been created for viewing statistical data, such as the Monthly Industrial Electricity Consumption Index (IMCEI).
