Metso’s Tampere Factory Adapts to Lower Production Volumes: Consultation Process Initiated

(IN BRIEF) Metso Corporation’s Tampere factory in the Aggregates business area faces challenges with low new orders and delays in material deliveries, resulting in increased inventories of finished goods. To align manufacturing with the temporarily reduced production volumes, Metso has initiated a consultation process with employee representatives. The potential need for fixed-term layoffs, lasting up to 90 days, is under consideration for implementation throughout 2024. These measures aim to address current production constraints and optimize operations during this period of adjustment.

(PRESS RELEASE) ESPOO, 6-Apr-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — New orders for Metso’s Tampere factory in the Aggregates business area have remained low.  Additionally, delays in material deliveries and the increased inventories of finished goods are limiting the manufacturing capability. To adjust its aggregates equipment manufacturing to the temporarily lower production plan, Metso has invited employee representatives to a consultation process at its Tampere crushing equipment plant organization. The possible need for fixed-term layoffs is maximum 90 days. The layoffs would be implemented during the rest of 2024.
