(IN BRIEF) Ericsson’s new Massive MIMO software, Interference Sensing, has received two awards at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 event in Barcelona. The software, which was announced on February 9th, optimizes mid-band Massive MIMO performance by reducing inter-cell interference and increasing network capacity by up to 40%. Interference Sensing was among the more than 10 new radio access network and transport solutions unveiled by Ericsson earlier in the month. The company won the “Innovative Breakthrough in Mobile Technology” GTI Award 2023 as well as the Outstanding Award for its significant contribution to the industry. Sibel Tombaz, Head of Product Line 5G RAN at Ericsson, said the company would continue to innovate and meet current and future market challenges.
(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 14-Mar-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Announced on February 9, 2023, the Interference Sensing software optimizes mid-band Massive MIMO performance by minimizing inter-cell interference while increasing network capacity by up to 40 percent. This software was among the more than 10 new radio access network (RAN) and transport solutions unveiled by Ericsson earlier this month.
Sibel Tombaz, Head of Product Line 5G RAN, Ericsson Networks, says: “It is both humbling and rewarding to win industry recognition for our software innovations. Interference Sensing provides up to 40 percent capacity gain on existing Massive MIMO hardware with only a software upgrade. We will continue to push the envelope on our 5G radio access network portfolio to meet current and future market challenges.”
