ENTSO-E and ENTSOG Announce Scenarios ETAG (External Technical Advisory Group) Members for Expert Advisory on TYNDP Scenarios Development

(IN BRIEF) ENTSO-E (European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity) and ENTSOG (European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas) have revealed the list of members forming the Scenarios External Technical Advisory Group (Scenarios ETAG). This group has been established to offer expert guidance independently of ENTSO-E and ENTSOG in the development of TYNDP (Ten-Year Network Development Plan) scenarios, as mandated by Article 12(3) of Regulation 2022/869. The selection process involved calls for interest, with 30 applications received. After evaluating applications against the stipulated requirements, a draft list of 22 members was created, subject to review by ACER (Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators) and the European Commission. The Scenarios ETAG’s efforts will complement other stakeholder engagement processes outlined in the TYNDP scenarios Stakeholders engagement plan.

(PRESS RELEASE) BRUSSELS, 17-Aug-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — ENTSO-E and ENTSOG publish the list of members of the Scenarios External Technical Advisory Group (Scenarios ETAG), a group that will provide expert advice to ENTSO-E and ENTSOG to assist with the development of the TYNDP scenarios. This group will develop their input independently of ENTSO-E and ENTSOG.

As required by Article 12(3) of Regulation 2022/869 (TEN-E Regulation), ENTSO-E and ENTSOG initiated the creation of the independent Scenarios ETAG, proposing draft Terms of Reference (ToRs) and launching a call for interest from 5 May to 5 June 2023. An additional call for interest took place between 12 to 19 June, to supplement categories with less applicants. In total, 30 applications were received.

After assessing the relevance of applications with the requirements specified in ACER’s Framework guidelines on the joint TYNDP scenarios and in the proposed ToRs, ENTSOG and ENTSO-E established a draft list of 22 members which was shared with ACER and the European Commission for a two weeks review period.

Next steps

ENTSO-E and ENTSOG will support the Scenarios ETAG members with the organisation of the first meeting of the group. The group will not replace other stakeholder engagement processes (including public consultations, stakeholder events and bilateral discussions), as outlined in the TYNDP scenarios Stakeholders engagement plan.
