(PRESS RELEASE) COURBEVOIE, 15-Dec-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Saint-Gobain (EPA: SGO), a French multinational producer of construction, high-performance, and other materials, has announced an agreement to acquire a majority stake in IMPTEK Chova del Ecuador, a prominent player in the construction chemicals market in Ecuador, known for its innovative waterproofing solutions. This strategic move marks Saint-Gobain’s inaugural manufacturing presence in Ecuador, expanding its global footprint.
IMPTek is anticipated to generate revenues of approximately €30 million in 2023. The company operates a manufacturing facility in the Quito region and employs approximately 120 individuals. IMPTEK holds a dominant position in the Ecuadorian construction market, offering a diverse range of waterproofing solutions, serving both local and international markets, including several Latin and Central American countries. With this acquisition, Saint-Gobain aims to leverage IMPTEK’s leading position to promote its comprehensive portfolio of lightweight and sustainable construction solutions within Ecuador.
The completion of this transaction is subject to approval by competition authorities and is expected to be finalized in the first half of 2024.
