Carmeuse’s Mine Rescue Teams Excel at KMI Competition, Demonstrating Safety Expertise

Competing against other teams, the Rangers achieved an impressive third-place finish overall, while the Bandits secured fourth place. The teams’ strong performance, including top-three finishes in various categories, highlights their dedication to safety and readiness in case of emergencies. These skilled groups practice hard to make sure they are ready for any eventuality. But competing against other teams in mine rescue competitions can add an extra edge, honing skills and providing opportunities to share and learn from others.

Teams can also evaluate performance against jurisdictional standards, while helping raise regional mine rescue competency.

Carmeuse is proud to participate in such competitions. With its Luttrell Rangers and Black River Bandits teams, the company recently achieved several top-three finishes at the Kentucky Mining Institute Rescue Competition in Lexington, KY.

The Bandits finished third and the Rangers fourth on Day 1 of the Metal Mine Rescue Competition, with the Rangers third and Bandits fifth on Day 2. This resulted in a third-place overall finish for the Rangers over the two-day event, with the Bandits close behind in fourth place. The Rangers also racked up a second place in the combined results for mine rescue, first aid, and team tech, with the Bandits again following on their heels in third.
