(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 26-Jul-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Pentland Brands, a leading company in the apparel industry, is teaming up with mission-driven start-up The People to establish a dynamic youth advisory board, providing valuable insights for strategic decision-making.

The initiative aims to engage young individuals under 30 from key markets such as the UK, USA, India, Vietnam, and China, to act as a focus group and influence crucial business decisions. The youth board will play a pivotal role in shaping how Pentland Brands supports, nurtures, and develops its current and future employees.

Recent research by the Corporate Counsel Business Journal highlighted that despite over 50% of the global population being under 30, the average age of Board of Directors is nearly 60. The youth advisory board will bridge this gap by incorporating diverse perspectives and voices from young changemakers within The People’s network, as well as employees from internal D&I networks, including LGBTQ+ communities, Black colleagues and their allies, women, and wellbeing.

The Pentland Collective, which was co-created in 2022 by Pentland Brands, The People, and young changemakers, was originally established to address career barriers faced by young people from underrepresented communities.

Aligned with its positive business strategy, Pentland Brands is committed to supporting one million people in its communities by the company’s centenary year in 2032.

Kian Bakhtiari, founder of The People, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Pentland Brands, highlighting the company’s commitment to embracing diverse perspectives and creating positive social change.

Sara Brennan, positive business director at Pentland Brands, believes that the collaboration with The People will lead to positive changes in the workplace for the next generation of talent, while also supporting current employees to make a significant impact. Embracing fresh perspectives will enable the company to take action that reflects and celebrates the diversity of its teams.

Applications for the youth advisory board are now open until Friday, 18th August. Interested young individuals can find out more and apply at https://pentlandcollective.com/.
