Norges Bank Administration Welcomes Therese Steen as New Executive Director

(IN BRIEF) Norges Bank, Norway’s central bank, has appointed Therese Steen as the new Executive Director of Norges Bank Administration (NBA). Currently serving as the Director General of the Department of Administrative and Constitutional Affairs in the Office of the Prime Minister, Steen brings significant expertise in NBA’s areas of responsibility. Steen has a legal background, having worked for the Office of the Attorney General and the Department of Domestic Affairs in the Office of the Prime Minister, as well as serving as a judge on the Borgarting Court of Appeal. She will assume her new role at Norges Bank in mid-August 2024, with Alexander Behringer continuing as Acting Executive Director until that time. Steen expressed her enthusiasm for leading and developing the organization, which supports both the central bank and NBIM (Norges Bank Investment Management).

(PRESS RELEASE) OSLO, 3-Dec-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Therese Steen is currently the Director General of the Department of Administrative and Constitutional Affairs in the Office of the Prime Minister.

Previously, Steen has worked for the Office of the Attorney General, in the Department of Domestic Affairs in the Office of the Prime Minister and as a judge on the Borgarting Court of Appeal. She trained as lawyer at the University of Oslo and has a Master’s degree in Public International Law from the London School of Economics.

She will assume her post at Norges Bank in mid-August 2024. Alexander Behringer, who has been the Acting Executive Director of NBA since November 2022, will continue in this position until Steen takes up her post.
