(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 10-Jul-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Tokio Marine Kiln, a leading international insurer with a reputation for specialist underwriting expertise, outstanding claims service, and innovative products, is set to launch its inaugural apprenticeship scheme on July 10, 2023, offering school leavers an exciting opportunity to explore a career in the insurance industry.

The apprenticeship scheme provides an appealing alternative for school leavers who are considering their career options, offering a 2-3 year program in underwriting, claims, operations, or IT. Participants will receive a competitive salary, a flexible benefits package, the chance to rotate across various teams, structured training, access to a career mentor, and support to obtain a professional qualification. Upon completion of the program, apprentices will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent role within TMK.

The introduction of the apprenticeship scheme coincides with TMK’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of its graduate scheme this year.

lisabeth Ibeson, chief people officer, said: “By opening up our early careers scheme to school leavers, we are tapping into a new pool of young, diverse talent. We’ll be able to welcome new ideas and fresh perspectives to our business, help sustain insurance careers in the London market, and also offer opportunities for young people from the grassroots upwards, to help them build their careers.”

Ben Langton, who joined TMK as a school leaver in 2017 and is now a claims adjuster, says of his career journey: “Following school, I knew I didn’t want to go to university and wanted to get into work sooner rather than later. I was not sure about a career path at that time, but my brother works in insurance and recommended TMK as a firm with a great reputation.”

The first group of school leavers is encouraged to apply for the apprenticeship scheme starting from July 10 through the TMK website, with their placements scheduled to commence in October.
