Investor AB Achieves Strong Performance and Sustainability Milestones in 2023

(IN BRIEF) Investor AB, in its recently published 2023 Annual Report, highlights its robust performance and commitment to sustainability amidst a challenging macro environment. Despite this, Investor delivered on its strategic priorities, including achieving a total shareholder return of 26 percent, outperforming the Swedish stock market for the thirteenth consecutive year. Key accomplishments include significant growth in adjusted net asset value, surpassing SEK 800 billion for the first time, and a 9 percent increase in dividends per share. Moreover, Investor made substantial progress towards its ESG targets, with a notable 65 percent reduction in CO2e emissions compared to 2016 levels. Despite a challenging macro environment, Investor performed strongly and delivered on the strategy during 2023.

Investor’s ultimate target is to generate an attractive total shareholder return. In 2023 total shareholder return was 26 percent, compared to 19 percent for the SIXRX return index. This was the thirteenth straight year that Investor outperformed the Swedish stock market.

2023 delivery on the strategic priorities:

  • Grow our net asset value: Adjusted net asset value grew by 24 percent, exceeding SEK 800bn for the first time.
  • Pay a steadily rising dividend: The Board of Directors proposes a dividend of SEK 4.80 (4.40) per share, an increase of 9 percent.
  • Deliver on our ESG targets: Continued progress, CO2e-emissions from our companies decreased by 65 percent compared to baseline year 2016.
