This strategic appointment underscores Barclays’ commitment to driving growth in the UK and Continental Europe, which remains a key focus for the bank’s Corporate and Investment Bank. Shakhmin will report to Richard Probert and Asim Mullick, Co-Heads of Industrials for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
With an impressive track record advising industrial clients, Shakhmin brings extensive transaction experience and a strong network of relationships across corporates and financial sponsors. He has been involved in numerous landmark transactions, including the recent strategic stake acquisition of Esdec by Blackstone, the disposal of E&I Engineering to Vertiv for US$1.8 billion, and the acquisition of Crown’s EMEA Food and Consumer Packaging business by KPS for €2.25 billion. Shakhmin will join Barclays in July, transitioning from Credit Suisse, where he has contributed significantly throughout his tenure. Prior to that, he spent the majority of his career at Rothschild & Co.
