Asmecruz lab acquired by SGS to strengthen food testing portfolio in Spain

Asmecruz’s laboratory provides a wide range of microbiological and biotoxin analysis services, and is fully authorized for seafood testing, with accreditation in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025. With this acquisition, SGS aims to enhance its portfolio of testing services for the Spanish food market. The move also marks SGS’s commitment to providing comprehensive testing solutions to help ensure the safety and quality of food products.

(PRESS RELEASE) GENEVA, 17-Mar-2023 — /EuropaWire/ —  SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has announced the acquisition of the testing business and assets of ASMECRUZ, SOCIEDAD COOPERATIVA GALLEGA (“Asmecruz”), a cooperative of mussel producers based in Boiro, Spain.

Asmecruz, founded in 2012, operates a laboratory that provides a comprehensive range of microbiological and biotoxins analysis services for seafood. The company holds full authorizations for seafood testing, and its laboratory is accredited in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025, which enhances SGS’s portfolio of testing services for the Spanish food market.

The acquisition aligns with SGS’s strategy to expand its testing capabilities in Spain and strengthen its position in the food and agriculture industry. The addition of Asmecruz’s testing business and assets will enable SGS to enhance its service offerings for seafood producers in the region.
