Laurent Chenain Takes the Helm of Corporate & Leveraged Finance at Crédit Agricole CIB

(IN BRIEF) Crédit Agricole CIB has announced the appointment of Laurent Chenain as the new Head of Corporate & Leveraged Finance, effective from June 1, 2023. Laurent will be taking over from Jamie Mabilat, who has moved on to the role of Senior Country Officer for Italy. With extensive experience in the finance industry, Laurent has held various positions within Crédit Agricole CIB, including Head of Oil & Gas, Global Head of Real Estate and Hotel Group, and Head of International Trade & Transaction Banking. Laurent’s appointment highlights the bank’s focus on strong leadership and continued growth in the Corporate & Leveraged Finance division.

(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 30-May-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Crédit Agricole CIB, the corporate and investment banking arm of Credit Agricole Group, the 12th largest banking group worldwide, has announced the appointment of Laurent Chenain as the new Head of Corporate & Leveraged Finance, effective from June 1, 2023. He succeeds Jamie Mabilat, who recently assumed the role of Senior Country Officer for Italy in February 2023. In his new position, Laurent will report to Jean-François Balaÿ, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole CIB, while also maintaining his membership in the Management Committee.

The Corporate & Leveraged Finance division encompasses the Leveraged & Telecom finance activities, as well as the origination of Corporate debt.

Laurent Chenain brings extensive experience to his new role. He embarked on his career in 1988, joining the Corporate Finance Department of Banque Indosuez in London. In 1989, he transitioned to the Project Finance Division of the bank in Paris, holding various positions within the Infrastructure and Energy teams. In 1997, Laurent assumed the role of Head of the Oil & Gas team. Subsequently, he joined Crédit Agricole Indosuez’s Leverage Finance Division in 2000, where he took charge of the French Team in 2003. In 2012, Laurent was appointed Global Head of Real Estate and Hotel Group. Since 2018, he has been serving as the Head of International Trade & Transaction Banking.

Laurent Chenain is an accomplished professional with a Master’s degree in Management from Panthéon-Sorbonne University and a postgraduate Specialised Master diploma in Strategy & Organisation from ESCP.
