Nicolas Denis Appointed as CEO of Crédit Agricole Assurances, Succeeding Philippe Dumont

(IN BRIEF) Nicolas Denis has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole Assurances, effective from January 1, 2024, following approval by the Crédit Agricole Assurances Board of Directors. In his new role, Denis will report directly to Olivier Gavalda, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole SA in charge of Universal Banking. He will succeed Philippe Dumont, who is retiring after 27 years with the Crédit Agricole Group. Nicolas Denis brings extensive experience in the financial and insurance sectors, having held various leadership roles throughout his career, including positions at BNP Paribas, GPA Assurances, Finaref, and within the Crédit Agricole Group.

(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 4-Nov-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — The Crédit Agricole Assurances Board of Directors, meeting on 2 November, has appointed Nicolas Denis as Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole Assurances, with effect from 1st January 2024. Nicolas Denis will join the Crédit Agricole SA Executive Committee, reporting directly to Olivier Gavalda, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole SA in charge of Universal Banking.

He will succeed Philippe Dumont, who is retiring at the end of the year after 27 years with the Crédit Agricole Group.

Nicolas Denis’s career path

Nicolas Denis began his career at BNP Paribas in 1990. In 1992, he joined GPA Assurances – part of the Generali Group – as an actuary and then as a marketing manager. He joined Finaref in 1998, where he specialised in insurance activities for six years before being appointed first as the company’s Marketing and Direct Distribution Director and then as its Sales Director. In October 2008, he joined the Crédit Agricole Centre Est Regional Bank as Deputy Chief Executive, overseeing the Private and Corporate Banking, Credit Development and Agriculture, Human Resources and Communications divisions. In 2013, he joined LCL as Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of the Technology and Banking Services divisions, the Ile-de-France network and online networks. In 2016, he became Chief Executive of the Normandy-Seine Regional Bank. Since 2017, Nicolas Denis has served a number of terms on various CAA Group boards of directors, including as Chairman of the CAA Board of Directors from July 2020 until July 2022, and then as Chairman of Pacifica, Chair of the CAA Audit Committee, and as a director of Predica.

On 1st March 2023, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Predica, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Second Executive Director of Crédit Agricole Assurances.

Aged 56, Nicolas Denis is a graduate of ENSAE, an IAF actuary and a graduate of CHEA (Centre for Advanced Insurance Studies).
