(IN BRIEF) Comotomo is using BASF’s color-matched Ultrason® P 2010 in its next-generation baby bottle, combining the material performance of PPSU with Avient’s Colorant Chromatics™ high-temperature blue color formulation. The bottle features a silicone body with an over-molded ring made from Ultrason® P 2010, giving it rigidity, heat resistance, chemical resistance and dimensional stability while supporting food-contact safety requirements under major standards including FDA, FC and GB. The material can withstand the high temperatures and pressures used in silicone overmolding and allows the bottle to be cleaned in dishwashers, boiling water, microwave ovens and bottle sterilizers. The collaboration brings together Comotomo’s infant care product expertise, BASF’s high-performance polymer technology and Avient’s color formulation capabilities. The new bottle is manufactured in South Korea and is currently available in China.

(PRESS RELEASE) LUDWIGSHAFEN, 16-Jun-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Comotomo, a Korean manufacturer of infant care products, is using color-matched Ultrason® P 2010 from BASF in its next-generation baby bottle, combining high-performance polymer technology with Avient’s specialized high-temperature color formulation expertise.

The new baby bottle features a silicone body with an over-molded ring made from BASF’s Ultrason® P 2010, a polyphenylsulfone known as PPSU. The material is used as a high-quality base polymer and is paired with a specific blue color developed through Avient’s Colorant Chromatics™ high-temperature color formulation capabilities for color concentrates and pre-colored solutions.

This combination allows Comotomo to achieve the desired visual appearance while maintaining the performance and safety requirements needed for infant feeding products. The colored PPSU provides the bottle with full rigidity and supports a safe feeding experience, with the material approved for food contact under major standards including FDA, FC and GB.

Ultrason® brings several important advantages to baby bottle applications. The material offers strong chemical resistance, excellent dimensional stability and resistance to superheated steam. These properties allow the bottle to be cleaned through common household methods, including dishwashers, boiling water, microwave ovens and bottle sterilizers.

Ultrason® P 2010 also provides high heat resistance and good impact strength, enabling it to withstand the elevated temperatures and pressures involved in the silicone overmolding process. These properties help support both reliable manufacturing and long-term product performance.

The product brings together Comotomo’s expertise in infant care design with advanced material solutions from BASF and color formulation expertise from Avient. The result is a baby bottle designed to offer parents a combination of safety, quality, durability and easy handling.

Hank Choi, Head of R&D Center at Comotomo, said the company is proud to work with Avient and BASF in bringing the next-generation baby bottle to market. He said the collaboration brought together product, material and color expertise to create a product that meets the demanding quality requirements of baby bottles. Choi added that Avient and BASF were selected because of their strong track record and their demonstrated commitment to high standards in food safety and product quality.

The new baby bottle is manufactured at Comotomo’s advanced production facility in South Korea and is currently available in China.

Ultrason® is BASF’s trade name for its range of polyethersulfone, polysulfone and polyphenylsulfone materials, marketed as Ultrason® E, Ultrason® S and Ultrason® P. These high-performance thermoplastics are used in applications such as water filtration membranes, household and catering products, and lightweight components for the automotive and aerospace industries.

Because of their strong performance profile, Ultrason® materials can replace thermosets, metals and ceramics in a range of applications. BASF and Avient collaborate on colored grades of Ultrason® high-performance polymers, combining BASF’s material platform with Avient’s Colorant Chromatics™ high-temperature color expertise. The collaboration gives customers across industries access to broader color options and technical support for demanding applications.
