KfW and KfW IPEX-Bank acknowledge importance of work-caregiving balance in Hessen

  • Voluntary acknowledgement to honour caregiving performed by employees
  • Diverse support services related to ‘work and caregiving’

Frankfurt am Main, 25-Sep-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — Today (2017-09-20), KfW and its subsidiary KfW IPEX-Bank signed the charter on balancing work and caregiving in the state of Hesse. In the Haus der Wirtschaft in Frankfurt, Dr Günther Bräunig, Deputy CEO of KfW Group, officially accepted the deed of adherence today. Signing the charter is a voluntary acknowledgement of the work performed by employees in caring for family members.

‘For us as an employer, pledging to uphold this charter is an important step in further balancing work and caregiving at KfW and its subsidiary KfW IPEX-Bank,’ said Bräunig. KfW offers its employees a wide range of services related to ‘caregiving and work’. In addition to comprehensive and regular information events, they include advisory services at KfW offices and via external advisory hotlines.

‘For quite some time, we have been helping our employees find a balance between work and caregiving with extensive services tailored to meet current needs. Caring for family members is gaining in importance for many people given the current demographic change. We have thus significantly expanded our range of advisory and information services accordingly,’ said Bräunig, underscoring KfW’s activities.

The charter which was founded in 2011 was initially launched with eleven companies and organisations in cooperation with the Hessian Ministry for Social Affairs and Integration. Today it already has 175 signatories. It is the first nationwide charter in Germany that makes the existing activities of employers in the area of ‘work and caregiving’ visible. Its members work together in order to develop viable solutions that meet the needs of employees, caregivers and employers in equal measure.
