Kapsch unveils the future of transport ticketing at the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) EXPO in Atlanta

VIENNA/ ATLANTA, GA, U.S.A., Country, 16-Oct-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — According to the motto “Forward to the future of transport ticketing,” Kapsch will present its recent solutions for Public Transport Operators (PTO) from October 9 to 11, 2017 at the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) EXPO in Atlanta, Georgia. The mobi.mobile app suite, as well as other technologies targeting mobile ticketing and various business models for PTOs will be showcased.

Kapsch’s mobi.mobile: smartphone applications for public transport operators including mobile ticketing apps for users of public transit.

The Kapsch app portfolio for public transport – mobi.mobile – consists of multiple micro applications suited to meet the requirements of PTOs and their consumers. The mobile ticketing applications facilitate the purchase and use of tickets for public transportation. “Our mobi.mobile app-suite is a tailored approach to serve the individual requirements of the public transport operator: the suite has apps dedicated for occasional and frequent users; apps that support flat fare or differential fare structures; apps that support instant or manual ticket activation; and apps that support electronic and/or visual validation,” explains Dieter Bodingbauer, Head of Customer Operations Public Transport. The sample of solutions Kapsch is presenting at the APTA EXPO shows once again the company’s commitment to the growth markets of public transportation and urban mobility.

“We are happy to present our latest solutions for public transport operators at the APTA EXPO in Atlanta, especially because we are implementing a project with the local transit authority, the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), at the moment,”says Dieter Bodingbauer.

This year MARTA awarded Kapsch a contract to roll out its new Mobile Ticketing System (MTS). The new MTS will be designed as an add-on to MARTA’s current Automated Fare Collection (AFC) system and simplify the process of buying and validating fares, giving users an additional method to purchase tickets and manage commutes without the need to visit a kiosk. Additionally, patrons can validate fare purchases via electronic validators when entering and exiting both buses and unmanned rail stations. Kapsch will supply the hardware as well as operational and commercial back office system. Beginning spring 2018, the system will be available in Atlanta, Georgia as well as surrounding communities and provide mobile ticketing for all of MARTA’s 38 rail stations, 565 fixed route and 211 paratransit buses.

Besides a deeper insight into the MARTA project, visitors of the Kapsch booth can learn more about Kapsch’s latest innovation – the app suite mobi.mobile.

The APTA EXPO is held every three years in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of APTA and is known as public transit’s premier showcase of technology, products and services.
