EU Court of Justice delegation to officially visit Bulgaria

Luxembourg, 21-5-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — As part of the constant contacts which the Court of Justice of the European Union maintains with the highest courts of the Member States, a delegation from the Court will make an official visit to Bulgaria, from Saturday, 18 May to Wednesday, 22 May 2013 at the invitation of Mr L. Gruev, President of the Supreme Court of Cassation of Bulgaria.

The delegation is led by Mr V. Skouris, President of the Court of Justice, and Mr K. Lenaerts, Vice-President of the Court of Justice and will be welcomed by Mr D. Yordanov, Minister for Justice of the Republic of Bulgaria. On the occasion of this visit, the delegation will also be received by Mr R. Plevneliev, President of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The delegation will participate in a conference on ‘Judicial cooperation in civil and criminal matters’ which will be held at the Supreme Court of Cassation of Bulgaria, in the presence of Mr L. Gruev, its President, and certain members of that national supreme court.

The programme of the visit also includes a meeting with the President and members of the Constitutional Court of Bulgaria.

The delegation will visit the St Clement of Ohrid University of Sofia where it will meet members of the Master in European Union law programme and will participate in a colloquium on ‘The role of the CJEU, illustrated by its case-law, on the principle of non-discrimination’ in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Mr S. Penov and students of the University of Sofia.
