VINCI Airports: Daniel Oduber Quirós airport COVID-19 sanitary measures testified by Airports Council International’s Airport Health Accreditation

(PRESS RELEASE) RUEIL-MALMAISON CEDEX, 26-Aug-2020 — /EuropaWire/ — VINCI Airports, a global operator of 45 airports around the world and part of VINCI Concessions SA, has announced that its member airport the Costa Rican international airport Daniel Oduber Quirós (Guanacaste Airport) has been granted the Airport Health Accreditation (AHA) by the The Airports Council International (ACI). The accreditation rewards the exceptionally thorough sanitary measures put in place by the airport, part of VINCI Airports network, in order to counter the COVID-19 pandemic.

After a complete evaluation of the sanitary measures decided by VINCI Airports and put in place within the terminals, the ACI rewarded Guanacaste’s efforts based on a scrupulous observation of the processes of cleaning and disinfecting the site, social distancing markings, strategic organization of terminal space and passenger awareness communication campaigns. Thus making Guanacaste Airport the first in Central America to obtain this accreditation, the second in Latin America and the Caribbean, and the third worldwide.

The airport’s General Manager for CORIPORT commented; “At CORIPORT, we have always been fully dedicated to monitoring this health situation, to make the passengers’ protection and safety our priority. This certification shows our commitment to maintaining a safe operation regardless of the current circumstances.”

The AHA accreditation as an international program has been created in order to reward the airports for their efforts to create a safe transit space for all and their commitment to a high-quality service. However, this recognition is also and mainly a means to enforce customers’ trust in traveling again, by guaranteeing a robust health protocol for them.

The corpus of the health measures set up at Guanacaste airport is part of a bigger sanitary measures campaign organized by VINCI Airports throughout the whole 45 airports network, “Protecting Each Other”, itself based on numerous health recommendations emitted by the World Health Organization or United Nations agencies such as the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
