Professor Jonathan Dawes brings expertise to EPSRC as deputy executive chair

(IN BRIEF) Jonathan Dawes, a Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Bath, has been appointed as the new Deputy Executive Chair of the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC) by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). He brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served on EPSRC’s Strategic Advisory Team and Strategic Advisory Network. Professor Dawes’ appointment will start on February 27, 2023.

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Jonathan Dawes as the new Deputy Executive Chair of the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC).

With a rich background in applied mathematics, Professor Dawes brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role. He previously served on EPSRC’s Strategic Advisory Team for Mathematical Sciences, as well as its Strategic Advisory Network, providing valuable insight into the organization’s initiatives and goals.

Professor Dawes has made significant contributions to the field of mathematics, having co-founded the Institute for Mathematical Innovation at the University of Bath and held esteemed positions at Cambridge University. He was also a recipient of a Royal Society University Research Fellowship.

His appointment will take effect on February 27, 2023 and UKRI looks forward to the invaluable contributions he will make as EPSRC’s Deputy Executive Chair.
