Ericsson and Sri Lankan services provider Dialog Axiata have won the IoT Initiative of the Year award at the 2018 Global Telecom (GLOTEL) Awards for successfully deploying South Asia’s first commercial Massive IoT network.

STOCKHOLM, 16-Nov-2018 — /EuropaWire/ — The Massive IoT network rolled out by the two companies in February this year supports both Cat-M1 and NB-IoT technologies, harnessing their capabilities to accelerate connected-life and digitize industries in Sri Lanka.

The annual GLOTEL Awards were held in London on November 8, They recognize innovation in the telecom industry.

The Massive IoT network deployment will help Dialog Axiata accelerate the use and adoption of IoT devices, enhancing the ecosystem across Sri Lanka. Dialog is already conducting trials for IoT-enabled smart electricity meters, power distribution monitoring systems, smart greenhouse, smart garbage bin and smart weather solutions.

Pradeep De Almeida, Group Chief Technology Officer, Dialog Axiata PLC, says: “Dialog has always been at the forefront of introducing new technology and value to empower Sri Lankan enterprises and consumers.
