(IN BRIEF) Skanska has entered into an agreement with the Municipality of Bergen in Norway to construct the Midtbygda care home. The contract is valued at approximately NOK 548 million (about SEK 550 million) and will be part of Skanska’s Nordic order bookings for Q3 2023. The care home will cover around 14,000 square meters and will feature 100 short-term accommodation units, a day activity center, rehabilitation and training facilities, a cafeteria, and an underground parking garage. The project is committed to ambitious climate and environmental targets, aiming for an 85% reduction in emissions through the use of electric construction machinery. The building will adhere to climate-friendly materials, renewable energy, and energy-efficient solutions in line with the Paris Agreement. Construction is slated to commence in October 2023, with completion anticipated by October 2026.
(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 23-Aug-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — The new care home will be approximately 14,000 square meters and contain 100 short-term accommodation units, day activity center, rehabilitation and training facilities, cafeteria and an underground parking garage.
The project has ambitious climate and environmental goals. The construction site will be operated as emission-free, with a target of 85 percent reduction in emissions through the use of electric construction machinery, and the building will be so-called “Paris Proof”. This means that it will use climate-friendly materials, renewable energy and energy-efficient solutions that are in line with the Paris Agreement. That also includes plans for extensive reuse of materials from an existing building that will be demolished as part of the project. The ambition is to certify the building according to BREEAM NOR, level Excellent.
Construction is expected to start in October 2023 with completion in October 2026.
