German Defence Giant Rheinmetall Teams Up with American UAS Maker for NATO Initiative

(IN BRIEF) Rheinmetall, a German defence company, and AeroVironment, an American UAS manufacturer, have teamed up to participate in a NATO special forces project. The companies have applied for a procurement program for a small UAS to be used for special operations and infantry applications with requirements for all-weather functionality, quick deployment, hand launchability, a maximum weight of 10 kilos, and a 30 km operating range. AeroVironment is a leader in UAS production, with its PumaTM 3 AE UAS used globally by armed forces, while Rheinmetall has expertise in adapting drone systems to meet customer specifications.
