(PRESS RELEASE) OSLO, 19-Aug-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Hydro Energi AS and Varberg Energi have signed a hybrid power purchase agreement designed to support more stable renewable electricity supply for industrial use.

Under the agreement, Varberg Energi will deliver electricity from its own wind and solar generation, complemented by energy storage capacity, to Hydro.

The hybrid power purchase agreement, or PPA, is intended to provide a more balanced delivery profile by reducing variability from intermittent renewable energy sources.

The structure is also designed to help secure a stable power supply for industrial consumption while serving as a proof of concept for similar market solutions in the future.

The collaboration brings together different renewable energy resources and storage technology in a model aimed at meeting industry’s need for long-term, competitive and sustainable power.

A key element of the agreement is a structured exchange of knowledge and information between Hydro Energi and Varberg Energi.

The companies will focus on how different energy resources and technologies can be combined and optimised to better serve industrial power demand.

The hybrid PPA secures a total supply of 10 GWh of power in SE3 over an 18-month period.

Deliveries under the agreement began in July 2026.
