(PRESS RELEASE) DÜSSELDORF, 24-May-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Rheinmetall AG (ETR: RHM), a German integrated technology group active in the automotive and defence industries, announces that Germany’s Federal Office for Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) has chosen Rheinmetall to undertake the remodeling of additional parts of its modular medical facilities. These specialized modular medical facility containers, ordered by the Bundeswehr, will be utilized as food safety laboratories among other purposes. The contract is valued in the higher-single-digit million-euro range, and the project is scheduled for completion by December 2023.

Referred to as MSE containers, these units form a family of modular medical facilities that have been in production since the 1990s. Multiple variants of these units have been procured and are currently undergoing comprehensive regeneration.

The MSE containers encompass rescue facilities and field hospitals deployed in Bundeswehr operational areas. These units fulfill specialized roles, such as functioning as a food safety laboratory (LCM) in this particular case. Equipped with technical and medical apparatus, the LCM ensures food safety in field operations. These stackable container systems are CSC-classified, allowing for transportation on container ships. The systems and their equipment are customized to meet specific requirements in terms of scope and functionality.

Dr Deniz Akitürk, managing director of Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH, is particularly proud of the latest project: “This is the second time that we’ve won a contract of this kind. Rheinmetall Project Solutions GmbH can look now forward to more orders in this segment.”
