(PRESS RELEASE) OSLO, 18-Apr-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — AF Gruppen (LON: 0DH7), a leading contracting and industrial group and the 3rd largest civil engineering and construction company in Norway, announces that it has signed a contract with FREVAR KF for the second phase of a new wastewater treatment plant in Fredrikstad municipality. The contract, which covers design, engineering, and execution, is worth NOK 1,081 million excluding VAT.
The treatment plant will be located at the Øra industrial area in Fredrikstad and will consist of a pre-treatment and bio-treatment building with an administrative section, a sludge treatment building, and two digestion tanks. The project is a response to increasing climate and environmental challenges, as well as more stringent treatment requirements from the County Governor, and aims to meet sustainable, eco-friendly, and climate-neutral goals.
AF Gruppen was proposed as the design and build contractor with interaction for the first phase of the project in August 2022, and has now signed the contract for the second phase. Construction is set to begin in June 2023, with handover expected in April 2026.
“We have completed a good interaction phase where we have identified good environmental and cost-effective solutions. The project has high ambitions in terms of the environment and climate, and will ensure a treatment plant that contributes to a cleaner Oslo fjord. We’re looking forward to continuing the partnership on building a new and modern treatment plant,” says Amund Tøftum, CEO of AF Gruppen.
