(PRESS RELEASE) MARTORELL, 19-Sep-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — ABT CUPRA jumped on to the podium for the first time  this Extreme E season at the Island X Prix in Sardinia over the weekend. The team scored the best result with a total of 35 points and a podium in both races.

Klara Andersson and Sébastien Loeb performed brilliantly in the all-electric CUPRA Tavascan XE, and were rewarded with a 2nd and a 3rd position on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

“Sébastien and Klara did a sensational job this weekend” said Xavi Serra, Head of CUPRA Racing. “This double podium shows that we have the potential to keep fighting for great results in the next round in Chile”.

Sébastien Loeb, who joined ABT CUPRA & Klara Andersson for second time this season said: “We had a good car, and the team and Klara did a mega job. Two podiums and the most points of all teams – of course we’re happy about that, even if we would have liked to win”.

Klara Andersson added: “We had to give everything for the two trophies and together with the whole team we are proud of it. We have fought our way back to success from difficult times – after finishing second and third, the goal for the two races in Chile is clear.”

The team is ready for the final challenge of the year: the last round of the Extreme E season in Chile, held on the 2nd and 3rd of December in the Atacama Desert.
