(PRESS RELEASE) LEVERKUSEN, 28-Jan-2020 — /EuropaWire/ — Bayer is supporting people affected by the novel coronavirus outbreak in China. The pharmaceutical company is contributing medicines and financial help worth of approximately EUR 1.5 million. The donations will be sent to the Chinese Red Cross, which is coordinating with health authorities to facilitate the distribution of support measures to prevent, diagnose, treat and contain the coronavirus.
The donated medicines, which is EUR 850,000 worth, consist of Avelox® (antibiotic), Redoxon® (vitamin C), Saridon® (antipyretic/analgesic), and Gadovist® and Ultravist® (contrast media). The cash donation which is around EUR 600,000 will be used to provide protective clothing needed by the medical staff in Wuhan.
Werner Baumann, Chairman of the Board of Management of Bayer AG, said: “We want to help people in the affected regions quickly and effectively. Our people have worked hard over the Chinese New Year holiday season to make sure that these medicines can be supplied without delay.”
