(PRESS RELEASE) MILAN, 13-Feb-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Pirelli (BIT: PIRC), an Italian multinational tyre manufacturer, has been recognized as a global leader in the fight against climate change for the fifth year in a row. The company’s efforts were acknowledged by the Climate A List 2022 of the CDP, an international non-profit organization that gathers, disseminates, and promotes information on environmental questions.

CDP evaluates companies on their efforts to reduce emissions, manage climate risks, and develop a low-carbon economy, as well as the completeness and transparency of their reporting. The organization’s goal is to guide companies and governments to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources, and protect forests. The Climate A List is a prestigious ranking of companies that are leading the way in the fight against climate change.

Out of the more than 18,700 companies evaluated by CDP in 2022, only 294 received the highest rating of “A,” including Pirelli. The company was recognized for the effectiveness of the actions implemented to reduce emissions and climate risks, the completeness and transparency of the information supplied, and the adoption of best practices associated with environmental impact.

Pirelli’s recognition by CDP confirms its constant commitment to environmental sustainability. The company has formalized its Net Zero Commitment, which includes new reduction targets for greenhouse gas emissions in line with maintaining warming within 1.5°C. Pirelli achieved its previous Scope 1 and 2 goals four years ahead of schedule. It has also set a goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030, for both electric and thermal energy, supported by the energy supply target of 100% renewable source electricity at the global level by 2025.

In addition to its ambitious goals, Pirelli is also committed to innovation and research and development of innovative and renewable materials and reducing emissions from the supply chain. The company is working towards a sustainable future, aiming to minimize its environmental impact at every stage of the product lifecycle.

Marco Tronchetti Provera, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of Pirelli, said: “Being recognized as a leader in the fight against climate change by CDP is a source of satisfaction for all Pirelli and is proof of the concrete nature of our actions in favour of environmental sustainability. It is an important result which drives Pirelli to set for itself always more challenging targets for the protection of the environment”.

The recognition by CDP demonstrates Pirelli’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and the environment. It highlights the company’s continued efforts to reduce emissions, develop low-carbon technologies, and create a more sustainable future. By achieving the highest rating from CDP for the fifth consecutive year, Pirelli is setting an example for other companies in the industry to follow.
