LV= talks with Royal London about potential merger have now ceased due to different mutual models

(PRESS RELEASE) BOURNEMOUTH, 9-Feb-2022 — /EuropaWire/ — LV=, one of the largest insurance companies in the UK, has announced that the merger talks that started earlier this year with Royal London, the largest mutual insurer in the United Kingdom, about the potential merger between the two companies have now ceased due to different mutual models.

Seamus Creedon, LV= incoming chair commented; “We thank Royal London for its engagement and we look forward to operating alongside it as part of a vibrant mutual sector. The strength of LV=’s business performance over the past 18 months combined with its operational progress has strengthened the Board’s belief in, and commitment to, the continuation of our status as an independent mutual.

“We have heard what our members have said about the importance of mutuality and the continuation of the LV= brand. We continue to maintain our strong capital position, are trading well and building a successful future for LV=, its members, employees and wider communities. We will shortly update our members on our business strategy and will continue to engage with them over the coming weeks and months.”

About LV=

LV= is a leading financial mutual and serves over 1.3 million members with a range of financial products. When we started in 1843 our goal was to give financial security to more than just a privileged few and for many decades we were most commonly associated with providing a method of saving to people of modest means. Today we follow a similar purpose, helping people to protect and provide for the things they love, although on a much larger scale and through a wide range of financial services including insurance, investment and retirement products. We offer our services direct to consumers, as well as through IFAs.
